Yoga For Beginner

Thinking about practicing yoga but are unsure as to which type would be right for you? There are a number of yoga for beginner options open to you.

There are many forms of yoga. Although they will have the same or similar elements, their focus will be different. Some yoga forms include Hatha, Bikram, Ashtanga, Power Yoga etc., One of the most common forms that is practised in the West today is Hatha yoga. While these can be accessed through yoga classes, many people prefer the convenience and ease of practicising yoga in the comfort of their own homes.

If you are interested in practicing yoga, then beginner yoga should be your starting point. You can opt to join yoga for beginner classes that are run by a qualified yoga teacher or work out in the comfort of your own home using a video yoga for beginner dvd or video.

An excellent yoga for beginner alternative that I have found is an 8 week home program that involves working out 15-40 minutes each day. The yoga class program leads you step-by-step progressively through the entire course.

The course is specifically designed to give you a complete exposure to the Four major tools in Yoga. Each week in an Integral Yoga class will begin with Yoga Nidra (through an audio CD) followed by the Asanas (as described in the manual), then Pranayamas and concluding with Mantra meditation (your second CD).

This is some of what you can expect:

1. Yoga Nidra will progress from a short introduction of 15 minutes in the first week and through more advanced aspects of awareness with each week.

2. The Asanas or yoga positions for beginners will progress from very simple Anti-arthritis series through to the Standing and Balancing postures.

3. The powerful Pranayama techniques begin with a few rounds and go up to more rounds with longer breath controls.

4. The meditation practice is divided into 4 stages for 2 weeks each

The handbook that accompanies this yoga home program touches upon the whys and hows of the practice making the experience a “learning with meaning” one. You won’t be cramped with directions of just do this or do that but you will be able to appreciate the reasons behind the practice.

The only program that helps you achieve physical fitness, freedom from stress as well as mental harmony and relaxation is Integral Yoga.

Get onto the yoga way and you’ll thank yourself forever.

About Yoga

Yoga originates from ancient spiritual practices in India, where it is seen as a means to enlightenment. The word yoga has its roots in the Sanskrit language and means to merge, join or unite. Yoga is therefore a a form of exercise based on the belief that the body and breath are closely connected with the mind.

Key elements of Hatha Yoga are

Breath: Learning and developing your breathing; yoga sees the body as being related to the breath, which is in turn related to the brain and the conscious mind.

Mind: a second key element of hatha yoga is concentration, leading to a meditative state.

Movement: being the 3rd element, relates to the practicing of postures and holding the body in steady controlled poses while at the same time controlling the breath. While movement is slow and controlled, they provide a thorough workout for the mind and body as well as the internal organs.

Benefits Of Yoga

Achieving a combination of control over breath, body and mind, brings benefits of relaxation, meditation and a healthy life balance. Some further well-known benefits of practicing yoga include greater stamina, sense of peace and control.

According to the Yoga Journal, approximately 15 million people practice yoga in the United States, while a Roper poll confirmed that 6 million Americans now practice hatha yoga.

Yoga is good for you. A study that was funded by The American Council on Exercise confirms it. The study found that regular practicing of Hatha yoga significantly improved participants' flexibility, muscle strength, endurance and balance.
Significant improvements were observed after eight week.

Although yoga is a safe and, effective, holistic alternative for womens health, you will need to seek guidance on using yoga to manage any sympthoms you experience. Using yoga without knowing the reasons for your symptoms can present health issues. Once you're aware of the reasons for any sympthoms, you can select appropriate yoga methods that will best work for you.
